**What Do You Look For?**
By David Chadwell

Which could you do more easily—complain about everything you do not like, or find blessings in dumpsters?   What is a dumpster?  It is a container commonly filled with things some people discard.  Among those things discarded by some are items that are valuable to others.

There are lots of things to complain about!  The world is filled with such things!  Most lives have an abundance of such things!  There are some people who look at the entire world as a great big dumpster!  Nothing is “right”!  There are no blessings!  Something is wrong with everything!  Mention any good thing and the complaining person responds, “That is true, but …”

I hope you have the joy and pleasure of knowing several inspirational people.  Chances are if you experience that joy, among those inspirational people is at least one person that you ask, “Why is she (he) so happy?”  From all visible circumstances, she (he) has much to complain about.  But she (he) does not complain.  She (he) sees blessings.  She (he) not only sees blessings, but makes blessings visible for others to note.

God waited patiently for thousands of years to send us His son.  That son was rejected by those who were supposed to know God.  Rejection—what a dumpster!  Finally, the son was arrested and condemned on false charges.  Injustice—what a dumpster!  Then the son was executed.  Execution—what a dumpster!  Then the son was buried by the pitiful few who were not ashamed of him.  Death—what a dumpster!

Then God raised him to life.  Resurrection—what a blessing!  Through his resurrection, God gave us hope.  Hope—what a blessing!  Through his execution, God gave us redemption.  Redemption—what a blessing!  Through injustice, God gave us atonement.  Atonement—what a blessing!  Through his rejection, God gave us forgiveness.  Forgiveness—what a blessing!  God’s patience persevered until we could have salvation.  Salvation—what a blessing!

Which are you more likely to do—see all that is wrong with everything or see blessings everywhere?  God is more likely to produce blessings!  His children are more likely to see the blessings He produces!

Since evil became a part of this world’s reality, there always has been more that is wrong than is right.  It always is easy to criticize.  It takes special vision to see blessings.  God has that vision.  Let Him teach you how “to see.”  You might be amazed to see all the blessings that surround you!

**David Chadwell Update**
David's diagnosis: Spinocerebellar Atrophy #8.  “Of the 16 expressions of this problem, this is the least destructive one.  It is genetic, but it is unlikely to be passed to our children.  My symptoms of speech, balance, gait, and energy issues are all the symptoms to be expected.  It is progressive and has no treatment, but it should progress slowly.  My energy level is not normal, but is returning.  I am responding well to therapy.  Thank you for your prayers and encouragements. The blessings made possible by many for Joyce and me are overwhelming!"

**Notes of Thanks**
Dad loved the Lord’s church. He had a special place in his heart for the people of the West-Ark congregation because his children and grandchildren had grown here for so many years. He loved your bulletin because of David’s articles. They were his source of “food” from the Word. Thank you for all you did and all you do.

Dear Church Family,
Maile had her treatment and spinal tap today in Little Rock (10/17/05). She is doing as well as can be expected today.  Please remember her this week. We want to give praise to our God for her test results which were fantastic. Everything is still clear. Her port worked absolutely perfect also. Thank you so much for your constant prayers for her strength and healing.  We are so blessed to be a part of such a loving family.

**Update from Nigeria**
In April, Jerry Canfield traveled to Nigeria with funds given by the West-Ark congregation. $2,200 had been set aside to provide for the family of Nigerian evangelist, Emanuel Nwosu. Emanuel died suddenly in September of 2003 and is survived by a wife and seven children. The letter below is from his oldest daughter, Victoria Nwosu, dated 10/2/05. The family members are:
• Mrs. Nwosu
• Victoria, oldest daughter
• Onyekachi, oldest son
• Godswill, 2nd son
• Jewell, 3rd son
• Ogbonna, 4th son
• Ihuoma, daughter, age 15
• Chinemerem, daughter, age 13.

Brethren,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. All the members of my family extend their greeting to you. We continue to appreciate your kind gesture. How is the church family? We have much regard for all you do. Please extend my greetings to all. How is the work of the Lord there? I hope is moving fine? Here in Rumumasi, the church is doing very fine.
All the members of my family are doing fine, both my mother and all my siblings. My mother is doing wonderfully good in her business and myself also. Onyekachi has finished his exams and is battling with his project. Joel [a student in Bible School] is in the house now; they will resume 4th October. Obgonna [a businessman’s apprentice] is now living with his master, and Ihuoma and Chinemerem are not left out as they have resumed and entered into a new class.  Bro. Brecwaist has given us $150 for Chinemerem’s tuition fee. We are very grateful. Godswill, I pray God to help him to get admission [to engineering school] because he has not known his stand yet.
We lost a sister at Uratta and she has not been buried. May you remember the family in prayer as the children of the sister are all unbelievers. The lady was converted together with the late husband when my father was in Uratta and was a Jehovah’s Witness. I pray that the children will be converted, too.
Please extend my greetings to all, your family, the group that gave the aid, and the church family.
Brother stay well, may the good Lord reward more abundantly for all you’ve done and are doing and will do in my family. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
I am your sister because of Christ,
  Victoria Nwosu

**Family Life Ministry**
By Brad Pistole

We have a great weekend planned for our teens on November 4th – 5th and it will be here before you know it. So I thought I better fill you in on all of the details.

As you know, Friday night, November 4th is “rivalry” night for High School football. It’s Northside vs. Southside, Greenwood vs. Alma, and many of our teens will be participating in those games as well as being involved with band, support, etc.

We are going to have a Sr. High cookout at my house immediately after the games. And just like scripture says, we will rejoice with those who are rejoicing and we will mourn with those who are mourning.

The cookout will last from 10 p.m. – 12 a.m. and the teens won’t need to bring anything. Everything will be provided.

The next day, November 5th will be a special day for our teens and for all of our families at West-Ark. We have been invited to a cookout/campfire devotional at the home of Meg and Jerry Canfield.

We will be focusing our prayers and our devotional thoughts on our Mission’s program. The cookout will begin around 4:30 and the campfire devotional (S'MORES included….oh yeah!) will begin around 6:00.

By the way, Dawson’s new house is just down the hill from Jerry’s house. Can anyone say, “Party at Dawson’s to follow?” Someone better warn Barney and Christy! Ha!
