**Encouragement to Study**
By David Chadwell

Paul wrote these words to a younger minister that he mentored: “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16, 17).  Effectively presenting Jesus Christ to those who need a Savior and encouraging those who accept salvation in Jesus Christ depends on knowing and relying upon God’s word.  The Psalmist wrote almost a thousand years before Jesus was born, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).  He also said in verses 111 and 112, “I have inherited your testimonies forever, for they are the joy of my heart.  I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever, even to the end.”

This congregation urges all its members to study [not just read] the Bible.  In addition to multiple class opportunities on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening, you are reminded of beginning studies as well.

For Women:
• W.IN.G.S. (Women In God’s Service) begins Tuesday morning classes on September 12 at 9:30 a.m. for orientation and receiving study books.
• Wednesday evening W.IN.G.S. begins September 6th, 7:00 p.m. in Room 211(contact Peggy Pistole).
• There is an additional Bible study for women on Wednesday mornings beginning September 13th, at 10 a.m. in the Annex. The teachers are Rochelle Brown, Bonnie Marrs, and Mary Burkett.

For Men:
• There is a Bible study open to all men on Tuesday mornings that will begin September 5 with Russ McConnell and David Chadwell as teachers.  They will begin with a study of Luke 9.
• There is also a new Men’s Ministry class that has just begun on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and is open to all men.  It is conducted in Room 206-B upstairs.  It features Bible study, singing, discussion, prayer, and fellowship.  (Contact Billy Yowell for more information.)

On Wednesday evenings there are two new teachers:
• Russ McConnell will be teaching Job in the auditorium beginning this week.  All are welcome.
• David Chadwell will teach “Encouraging the Grieving” upstairs in Room 203 for the four weeks of September.  Anyone is welcome.
• Gary Brown will teach a new class in this same room in October.

Kids For Christ will begin again on Sunday evenings on September 10.

We urge you to do more than believe in God and His son Jesus Christ.  We urge you to never stop learning His Word and to never stop allowing that Word to shape your life!

**Ministry Fair is October 8**
Here is your chance to discover up close “What’s Happening at West-Ark?” Our various ministries will have information available explaining what they do and how you can be a part of their work. Plan to be a part of this day! For more information, please see Gary Brown.

*Deacons & Ministry Leaders
Your commitment to creatively displaying information about your ministry will help people find a place to “get to work” and help West-Ark present the good news of Jesus. In your display be ready to show/explain what your ministry does, what type of help you need, what the possibilities can be and how God can be glorified through it.

*Special Lesson Series for Adult Classes
To help prepare for the Ministry Fair, David Chadwell has written a special series of lessons for our adult classes. The lessons will help highlight our need to be involved in serving others.

*The Teacher’s Study Guides are ready now. Copies are available in the Library. Student copies will be placed in the adult classrooms on September 10. All adult Bible classes are requested to use the lessons. Extra copies will be in the Information Center.

You can do it! Many say they are afraid of the math, but don’t worry, we have Matt Thomas (in house) and a “phone-a-friend” when we are stuck. Our children’s first needs are love and encouragement, then come reading and math.
