**School Supply Sunday, August 22**

Proverbs 14:31 tells us that God is honored when we help the needy. For the fourth year, The Hope Chest is providing an opportunity for us to be blessed by giving school supplies for children in our community. The list of suggested supplies is printed below.

 

YOU MAY BRING SCHOOL SUPPLIES WITH YOU ANY TIME FROM NOW UNTIL SCHOOL SUPPLY SUNDAY -- AUGUST 22! THE DROP-OFF POINT IS THE FOYER (LOOK FOR THE DESIGNATED BOX OR SHOPPING CART :~) WHATEVER YOU CAN BRING WILL BE APPRECIATED AND USEFUL!

**Prayers for Comfort and Healing**

• CLAYTON AMOS was dismissed from the hospital on Wednesday and has home health care. His sister has come to visit and help them.

• Colorado Mission Trip, July 24-31.

• JOY & GERALD BENJAMIN -- Chris’s mother is home from the hospital. She will continue receiving IV antibiotics for another week on an out-patient basis.  Chris’s dad has developed shingles and began medication this week.

• LONNIE MARTIN (father of Carenda Cobb) had double knee replacement surgery on July 23. He is now in St. Edward rehab.

• MARLIN EDENS (father of Tammy Cypert) is in Heart Hospital in Little Rock.  He passed out and fell last week, breaking two ribs and puncturing a lung. 

• MARGARET GILLIAN is in Sparks Hospital, room 410.

• PHILLIP WHITE had additional back surgery on July 28 due to an infection from a previous surgery. He is in Sparks Hospital, room 451.

 

**Bereaved**

Funeral services for Kim Thornburg are Saturday, July 31, 10 AM at West-Ark.  Visitation with friends and family will be Friday, July 30, from 6 – 8 PM at Lewis Funeral Chapel.  Our love and sympathy is extended to Gerald & Melinda Venable and family.  Memorial contributions for Kim may be made to Lions for Christ.

**ALL FAITH FUSION VOLUNTEERS!**

West-Ark has a number of such professionals…accountants, attorneys, financial experts and many more…who are willing to help you. We have formed the FREEDOM ministry – Financial Resolution and Enduring Comfort – to assist our members who need help. **WIDOWS/WIDOWERS LUNCH**

Saturday, August 7, we will dine at Steffy’s Pizza in Lavaca.  The bus will leave the Annex at 11:30 AM.  Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!  Due to Faith Fusion, the Car Clinic is postponed until September.

**Youth Group // news**

 

Roller Skating @ Crystal Palace - Sunday, August 1

The SLAM team has decided that we’ll meet at Crystal Palace at 3 PM for a fun time skating.  Cost is $6 for skating.  Afterwards, we’ll go to the Central Mall Food Court so bring extra money for that.  We’ll end up with a Devo afterwards in the youth group room and be finished at 7 PM.

 

Naturals Baseball Game – Tuesday, August 3

We have rescheduled to attend the game this evening.  We’ll leave at 5 PM from the building and return about an hour after the game ends.  If you are not able to go, please let Rick know so we can give you an alternative.

 

WAYG Youth Group T-shirts – Wednesday, August 4

We are taking orders for a new Youth Group t-shirt.  Cost is $15 and due on August 4.  Order forms can be found in the hanging files next to the Youth Group bulletin board in the foyer.

 

Faith Fusion – Saturday, August 7

Mark your calendars to be available to help with this amazing, one day event, led by West-Ark’s Children’s Ministry!

 

Intern Farewell/Cookout – Sunday, August 8

Look for more information about saying a sad “farewell” to our fantastic summer Interns.  Event will take place from 6-9 PM.

 

Inner City Lunch @ Hope Park – August 21, 10:45 AM-12:30 PM

Join in on this outreach and service project to the homeless of Fort Smith.  Last month, we had over 30 show up to help feed nearly 80 people.  Come be the hands and feet of Jesus.

 

JumpStart – August 27-29

Applications are out for this fantastic Youth Conference in Neosho, MO.  Patrick Mead will be one of the speakers.  New Reign and Watershed Worship will also be performing.  Applications are due August 8.  Cost is $40.
