**Blue Jeans Sunday**
1,010 Pairs on 10.10.10
This year our goal is to collect 1,010 pairs of blue jeans by
10.10.10! Each fall, as the kids go back to school and the weather turns cooler,
the Hope Chest has an increased need for blue jeans. We need jeans of all
kinds -- for men, women and children (all sizes) -- new or used.
In addition to collecting blue jeans, October 10 is also a
day to wear your blue jeans to worship and then go out to work on various
service projects. Our project list is still under construction, but here are the
ways to serve thus far. Sign-up lists are posted in the foyer!
Wear a pair ... Share a pair ... Show you care.
•CURE -- sort and fold linens (need about 20
workers)
•Hope Chest -- fold and pack jeans (need about 20-25
adults)
•Heart to Heart Pregnancy Center -- Clean out and relandscape
flower beds and indoor atrium (need 20-25 workers with tools)
•Community Rescue Mission -- prepare and serve a
meal (need about 8-10
workers)
•Children’s Emergency Shelter -- Youth group will take
children for an afternoon outing.
•West-Ark -- Touchup painting on building, powerwash
back of Family Life Center (need 8-10 men; tools
provided).
•LFC Campus House -- Remove debris in yard and spread load of

Thank you very much for the donation/memorial to the Library

**In Our Thoughts & Prayers**
• Amy Lowry (daughter-in-law of Jack & Janice) has disc
edema in one of her eyes and is waiting for an appointment with a neuro
opthamologist.
• John Gardenhire is at home with Warren and
Elizabeth.
• Missy Blasdel requests prayers for her friend, Mary Jo
Russell, who is having vision problems due to an infection.
• Phillip White is in Sparks Hospital, room 453. He had
surgery on 9/15 to remove the hardware from his back due to infection. The
results from the biopsy show the infection has damaged his liver, and he has
been placed on the transplant list.
• Troy Risley, Clark’s father, is doing well following
surgery on 9/15 to repair a broken ankle.
**Bereaved in Prayer**
Our love and sympathy is extended to Jenet Clements in the
death of her sister Darlene last week. Her funeral was in El Dorado,
AR.
Word has been received of the deaths of two former West-Ark
members: Bill Sandlin of Oklahoma City , and Robert Roberts of NW
Arkansas.

**Tutoring Program**
If you are interested in a “feel good” program, this is it.
On the first day our “return children” come running in looking for familiar
faces and hugs while the newbies are a little shy and scared. By the end of the
first tutoring session, at least one child will ask if he could stay longer. We
have some of the sweetest, unspoiled, hungry children you have ever met. Jack
does a fantastic job of picking our kids.
Tutoring starts Oct. 5th from 3:15 to 4:50 PM and continues
through April. We meet every Tuesday that school is in session except for the
Tuesday before Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We need 24 tutors, 12 substitute tutors, many snack
providers, 2 full-time van drivers willing to be at the school at 3:00 and then
drive the kids home at 4:50 PM and one person to fill in if a driver needs to be
off. Also, if we could get someone to set up our tables by 3:00, that would be a
blessing.
Please consider this work, pray for this work, and then
sign-up in the foyer at our table.
