**Blue Jeans Sunday Is October 10th**

Fall is here and West-Ark’s Annual “Blue Jeans Sunday” is just weeks away!  The purpose of this special fall event is two-fold:

To restock the Hope Chest with blue jeans for the fall and winter -- jeans are the most-requested item of clothing; and to provide an opportunity for West-Ark members to serve others -- in our community and our church family.

How Can I Help?

Collect blue jeans to bring on 10.10.10 -- new or used, all sizes, for men, women, or children. Our goal is 1,010 pairs of blue jeans!

Sign up for one of the work projects listed below.  The sign-up lists are really important!  They help our project leaders know how many workers to count on, and provide our cooks with a count for the noon meal (lunch is provided for all workers).  Sign up today!

• CURE -- sort and fold linens  (need about 20 workers)

• Hope Chest -- fold and pack jeans (need about 20-25 adults)

• Heart to Heart Pregnancy Center -- Clean out and relandscape flower beds and indoor atrium (need 20-25 workers with tools)

• Community Rescue Mission -- prepare and serve a meal  (need about 8-10 workers)

• Children’s Emergency Shelter -- Youth group will take children for an afternoon outing.

• West-Ark -- Touchup painting on building,  powerwash back of Family Life Center  (need 8-10 men;  tools provided).

• LFC Campus House -- Remove debris in yard and spread load of dirt in preparation for sod  (need 10-12 workers).

**JOY Bunch Fun Trip!**

Join us as we travel to Branson, MO on October 8, 2010 to watch Ray Stevens perform in the Welk Theatre. Transportation, performance, hotel accommodations, and evening meal for the low, low price of $75 per person based on double occupancy.  Payment must be turned in NO LATER than Wednesday, September 29, to Winston or Danna Turpin, Genneil Nye, or Lynn Dickey in the church office. First come, first serve basis.  We’ll meet at the building at 9:30 a.m. on October 8th!

**Tutoring Program**

The Tutoring Program is in need of 7 additional tutors, 12 people willing to be subs, a few more snack providers and people willing to provide $6.00 each week to purchase milk for the children.

If you have told Sheila or Karen that you will do one of these things, please sign your name on the appropriate list on the table in the foyer.

If you want to provide milk money for the children, make your check out to West-Ark Church of Christ and give it to Sheila Vaught or Karen Farris.  We will hold the check until needed, purchase the milk, and then give the check to the office.  Thank you for your assistance.

If you did sign up in the foyer, please check that your name is still on the list.  One page of the snack providers and one page of the tutors was removed from the table, and we  don’t know who may be on that list.  Thank you.

Sheila Vaught
