**Baby Shower**

We will be welcoming Jaxon Wyninger (son of Chad & Sherry Wyninger, and grandson of Gerald and Cyndy Jones) to the West-Ark Family with a baby shower on Sunday, October 17, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM in the Annex.  Specific needs are diapers (larger than size 1) and fall/winter clothing (larger than size 3 months).  Come join the fun as we welcome Jaxon and his family to West-Ark!

**Sunday Night at 6:00 PM!**

Come and hear Roy Dunavin and Jack Lewis report on the work in Ethiopia.

**Praying for God’s Mission in Ethiopia**

“For my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Isaiah 56:7

The work in Ethiopia and Sudan are linked. Sudanese preacher training students may travel freely to Ethiopia to attend school at Addis Ababa.  We cannot always travel freely to Sudan.

Below are some of the ways you can pray for the mission in Ethiopia:

-Pray for the 83 Sudanese men who have graduated from the preacher training school in Ethiopia from 2003 - 2010.

-Pray that all the students who studied with the Dunavins and Lewises this summer will

obey the gospel and become strong Christians.

-Pray for Samuel (Sudanese preacher for a congregation of 100) and his family.

-Pray that the water drilling projects will receive approval where water is needed. In the

last 19 months, 41 congregations have been established where a water well was drilled.

-Pray for the coming election in Sudan.

**Video Opportunity -- October 17 and 24**

9:30 AM in the Auditorium (for all who are interested)

“God Grew Tired of Us” -- This video explores the indomitable spirit of three “Lost Boys” from Sudan who leave their homeland, triumph over seemingly insurmountable adversities and move to America, where they build active and fulfilling new lives but remain deeply committed to helping the friends and family they have left behind.

Samuel (mentioned in the third prayer point above) is one of the “Lost Boys” who is now a preacher in Sudan.

**Note of Thanks**

THANK YOU to all that made this year's Blue Jeans Sunday such a success.  Thank you to those who showed their support and commitment by wearing your jeans Sunday morning and coming in the door with jeans in bags, in boxes, and in your arms.  2033 pairs for 2010!! You have set the bar high. Thank you to the elders who were in their jeans and in the trenches (literally).  You led by example. Thank you to the "he-men” who made our building "shine" and Debra Gail who held her own with a paint roller and power washer. (Your Mama would be proud!)  Thank you to the Youth Group who showed children from the shelter what it means to be a family.  Thank you to members of "The Way" who have little, yet spent the afternoon serving those who have none.  Thank you to those "kitchen angels" who fed the multitudes -- 3 times!!  Thank you to those who worked at the LFC house spreading dirt and "sowing the seeds of the kingdom."  Thank you to those who sorted and folded jeans and linens.  You are truly helping to clothe the world.  Thank you to those who "moved mountains" (or at least very large rocks) to create a "Life Garden" to inspire young women to choose to make their darkness another family's light.  Thank you to those who spent time telling others, "We miss you!"  You will not soon be forgotten.  Thank you to those who captured these special moments so we could all share in the joy.

On Blue Jeans Sunday we saw compassion without ceasing, duty with determination, and love without limits. Thanks to you, we don't  just "go to church," we are  the "GO TO CHURCH" in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  "By their fruits you shall know them ..." Matt. 7:20

**Youth Group / news**

Inner City Lunch @ Hope Park

Saturday, October 16, 10:45 AM-12:30 PM

Join in on this outreach and service project to the homeless of Fort Smith.  In August, we had over 30 show up to help feed over 100 people.  Come be the hands and feet of Jesus.

WAYG Class – Sunday, October 17, 9:30-10:30 AM

Don’t miss the High School class, taught by John Carson and Kent Snider, teaching based on the book, “The Barbarian Way” and  the Jr. High class, taught by Brad Moore and Joe Morgan, teaching based on the book, “Be The Wave.”  Both resources are excellent and use lots of Biblical principles and material to help in spiritual growth. Bring your Bible and get ready for these great classes!

Parents Class – Sunday, October 17, 9:30-10:30 AM

Rick will continue a new series this Sunday based on the book “Almost Christian:  What the faith of our teenagers is telling the American church.”  It will be challenging, informative, and hopefully become a call-to-action.  This Sunday we’ll discuss “Becoming Christian-ish.”  Bring your Bibles, coffee and insights as we begin a brand new study!  This is open to ANY and ALL parents (not just parents of teens).

WAYG Family Clusters – Sunday, October 17, 6-8 PM

Make sure you are part of this fast-growing mix of all of the geographically-distributed youth group families, along with Elders from your area.  It’s a great way to build relationships with Christian brothers and sisters that live in your area (and maybe even find a car pool contact for your youth group student!).  NOTE:  If you do NOT know what Cluster you are in, send Rick a message via email, Facebook or text and he’ll let you know.  Fort Smith Central – Rusty & Tamara Walker (host), Fort Smith East – Gary & Rochelle Brown (host), Fort Smith South – Rick & Lorrie Jones (host), Greenwood – Kevin & Christy Hesslen (host), Van Buren/Sallisaw/North AR – Brent & Carol Evans in Sallisaw (host).

The Journey – Wednesday, October 20, 7-8 PM

Don’t miss out as we lift our praises to God and share a message from His Word.  Bring a Bible and bring a friend!  We’ll continue our study of Moses on his journey, in answering God’s call.

MOVE Advance – November 19-21, 2010

Make sure you have marked this weekend for one of the BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT events for our WAYG …  it’s our version of a retreat, except we ADVANCE!  Clint Askins, from the Littleton church in Denver, CO will be our speaker and Andy Spell, from the West Houston church in Houston, TX will be leading worship.  Trust me, you will want to make EVERY EFFORT to be a part of this phenomenal event.   Applications will be out soon!
