**HO! HO! HO!**

(Did we get your attention?)

The 2010 Hope Chest Toy Giveaway is right around the corner and will be  held again in the Family Life Center (gym) on Saturday, December 11, from 10:00 AM  to 1:00 PM.

Last year because of the generosity of the West-Ark congregation, 420 people were able to choose Christmas gifts for their children.   The Lord was blessed by your efforts, and it was great fun for everyone that participated.

The Giveaway enables those from West-Ark to use their talents to help the community and spend time together in this service.  There are various ways to contribute.   Everyone has a spot here!!  Below is a list and timeline of the “needs” to make the Toy Giveaway a success. Take a look at the list, mark your calendar, and be thinking of how you can serve in this year’s Toy Giveaway!

1.      November 21 through Dec. 5 … DRESS A DOLL!  Members can take a doll that needs to be “freshened-up” and make it pretty again.

2.      Dec. 5 -- West-Ark Youth Group works on goodie bags and other projects at the CURE warehouse.

3.      Friday, Dec. 10, 10 AM to 6 PM -- Help put out the toys at the Family Life Center.

4.      Dec. 10, 10 AM to 6 PM - Bring cookies to the Family Life Center to feed the Toy Giveaway shoppers.

5.      Saturday, Dec. 11, 9:30 AM -- Participate in a devotional for West-Ark workers.

6.      Dec. 11, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM -- Help distribute the toys on the day of the Hope Chest Toy Giveaway.  In past years all ages have been there to assist the shoppers, load gifts, and offer lots of Christmas spirit.

7.      Dec. 11, 1:00 PM to ? -- Clean up the Family Life Center after the event.  Clean up goes very fast with many workers.  The Family Life Center was in perfect shape by 2:00 last year!

The Hope Chest Toy Giveaway keeps on growing and it is all because of the great folks at West-Ark.  Let’s do it again!!  ~~Connye Neal

**Prayers for Mission to Ethiopia**

Jim and Don Wilson are leaving Sunday morning and will be in Ethiopia for two weeks.  They will return on Nov. 14th.

**Praying for God’s Mission in Vietnam**

“For my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Isaiah 56:7

Below are some of the ways you can pray for the mission in Vietnam:

-Say a prayer of thanks that the church was able to meet this Sunday without major disruption, despite threats from the local police.

-Pray for continued courage for Christians facing pressure and persecution from government officials.

-Pray for the success of the church registration that will allow the Christians to meet with less fear of government intervention.

**Member Attendance/Guest Card**

Sunday morning you will find a new card on the back of the pew.  It is a combination card -- one side for member attendance, the other side for guest attendance.

All members, please fill out one card every Sunday for your family and place it in the offering plate.

• It encourages us to know you are here!

• It gives you the opportunity to update your information -- name, address, phone, e-mail, etc.

• It lets us know of any prayer requests or needs you may have.

**Missions Sunday is Nov. 7**

Dr. Dan Bouchelle,  Guest Speaker

**Missions Offering is November 14**

This special contribution and the pledges given help fund West-Ark’s mission program for the coming year. Be praying about your offering to God’s Mission in 2011.

**Divorce Care -- Surviving the Holidays**

Facilitator: Shanna Davis, Room 211

In past years, the Christmas holiday season may have been a time of great anticipation and excitement … but this year, the prospect of facing the holidays without your mate may cause anxiety and dread.  You are not alone.

You are invited to attend ANY or ALL of the sessions below for support, encouragement and advice to survive the holidays.

**Note of Thanks**

Thanks to all who "donated for their dinner" at the Fall Festival Sunday night.  Because of all those "dollars for dumplins," we raised $696.70 so Trenton won't be HOME ALONE for the holidays.  Once again you have answered the question; "Can WE do it?  Yes, WE can!!“ You proved that WEst-Ark begins with "WE."  Bless you.  ~~The Dinner Divas

WAYG Class – Sunday, October 31, 9:30-10:30 AM

Don’t miss the High School class, taught by John Carson and Kent Snider, teaching based on the book, “The Barbarian Way” and the Jr. High class, taught by Brad Moore and Joe Morgan, teaching based on the book, “Be The Wave.”  Both resources are excellent and use lots of Biblical principles and material to help in spiritual growth. Bring your Bible and get ready for these great classes!

Parents Class – Sunday, October 31, 9:30-10:30 AM

Rick will continue a series this Sunday, based on the book “Almost Christian:  What the faith of our teenagers is telling the American church.”  It will be challenging, informative, and hopefully become a call-to-action.  This Sunday, we’ll discuss “The Mission.”  Bring your Bibles, coffee, and insights as we continue this awesome study!  This is open to ANY and ALL parents (not just parents of teens).

HONDURAS & BULGARIA MISSION TRIP MEETING – Sunday, October 31, immediately following Sunday AM worship

We need to quickly disseminate information about the WAYG-led mission trips for Spring Break to Honduras (open to 9th grade and above, even if you DON’T have youth group students … 7th/8th graders can go on the trip with a parent) and for next summer to Bulgaria (open to 11th grade and above, even if you DON’T have youth group students … 9th/10th graders can go on the trip with a parent).  You NEED to be at this short meeting so we can begin to finalize who is going to be part of the team.  Meeting will be held in the Youth Group room upstairs in the gym.

No WAYG activity tonight – Sunday, October 31

SLAM Team - Wednesday, November 3, 6 PM

This meeting is open to ANY WAYG students who want to do MORE than just show up at an activity … you’ll have the opportunity to provide input, and also to learn more about leadership.  We’ll meet at 6 PM in the Youth Group room.

The Journey – Wednesday, November 3, 7-8 PM

Don’t miss out as we lift our praises to God and share a message from His Word.  Bring a Bible and bring a friend!  We’ll continue our study of Moses on his journey, in answering God’s call.

MOVE Advance – November 19-21, 2010

Make sure you have marked this weekend for one of the BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT events for our WAYG … it’s our version of a retreat, except we ADVANCE!  Clint Askins, from the Littleton church in Denver, CO will be our speaker and Andy Spell, from the West Houston church in Houston, TX will be leading worship.  Trust me, you will want to make EVERY EFFORT to be a part of this phenomenal event.   Applications have been handed out in WAYG class, emailed out and are NOW available in the hanging files next to the Youth Group bulletin board in the foyer!
