Adopt
A Child & Buy Them School Supplies!
We
are looking for folks to "adopt" some children who come
with Jack Lewis to West-Ark. The needs to be filled by
an "adoption" are the following:
SHORT TERM
Buy school supplies for a child. Obviously, we will
get you their specific list. Each child's school
supplies will be about $40 - $50, depending on specific
supplies, brands, etc.
LONG TERM Meet &
greet your child as they arrive on the church van (each
Sunday night and Wednesday night), get them to class,
and then have them sit with you during worship. The
primary goal is to 1) ensure that they get to where
they need to go while they are at West-Ark, and 2) even
more importantly -- establish relationships and show
them God's love!
If you are willing/able to buy
school supplies, "adopt" a child, or both, please
contact Dena Jenkins soon at Dena@westarkkids.org or
call the church office at 452-1240. Thank
you!
May God continue to show us ways to be His
hands and feet!

wishes, cards and prayers while I was in the hospital

I want to say thank you to the
ladies group that spent so many hours laboring over the
wonderful quilt they gave me. I want to say thank you to
the individuals who generously contributed money for the
gift card. It's been very helpful already. And lastly, I
want to say thank you to the West-Ark family as a whole
for being so welcoming and so friendly. Thank you for
providing a place that I look forward to going to and
enjoy going to because of building friendships and
enjoying the company of others. Thank you for showing
how much you care in such a short time and for being
really a big family. Ozi

It's Tutoring
Time! It's that time again! School is about
to start and the West-Ark Tutoring program needs you. We
need 24 tutors and no less than 12 substitute tutors, a
whole bunch of snack providers, and one licensed regular
van driver to drive the second van, and a substitute to
occasionally fill in for Jack Lewis and the other
driver. Whew! That was a mouthful and most likely
grammatically incorrect, but that just proves you can
tutor without being perfect. You just have to be better
than a little kid. (Trust me when I tell you it makes
their day when they catch you in an error! )
We
tutor on Tuesday afternoons from 3:15 until 4:50
beginning Oct. 3 and ending April 24th. We are off the
Tuesdays before Thanksgiving and Christmas, and March
20th during Spring Break.
Jack Lewis does a
phenomenal job of getting easy-to-love children. Last
year I was amazed at not only the number of return
children but also that they were bringing their siblings
and cousins. That shows what a great job the tutors do!
Let us not forget what our snack providers do;
they fill those little tummies so the children can
think. In the past we have had children that would
not have been fed on Tuesday evening without our snack
providers.
Please look for the little red
schoolhouse in the foyer and sign up. Christ did not
push the little children away; let us follow His
example. More next week! --Sheila
