  • Betty Summers was released from rehab for a broken hip on Wednesday (9/21/11).
  • Brian Robbins has been diagnosed with a colon infection and is in St. Edward Hospital, room 4407, for IV antibiotics.  
  • Connie Ogden's mother is recovering from a heart attack.
  • Dan Ogden had pacemaker surgery this week.
  • Frieda Belote (Ron's mother) is in rehab in Fayetteville after breaking her hip last weekend.
  • Layne Downs requests prayers for her daughter Cheryl & family.
  • Owen Forse, 2-year-old relative of the Smith, Selby, Miller, Oliver, Atchison family began chemotherapy at Arkansas Children's Hospital this week.  
  • The Tomlin family asks for prayers for Alex who has joined the Army.  He leaves for basic training in February.

Projects for Saturday, October 15

 

Carlene Payne's House
2111 Williams Street, Van Buren, AR 72956
Project Coordinators: John Lindgren and David Berger
  • Paint & caulk house
  • Some yard work needed, including cleaning out heavy brush from back area.
  • Will be removing old carpeting and laying wood laminate flooring in the living room and down the hall.
  • Need 12-15 volunteers. Supplies/equipment and lunch provided.
Karen Carter's House
3800 Wildwood Drive, Greenwood, AR
Project Coordinators: Kevin Hesslen and Brian Robbins
Project: Washing her log house
  • Need: 8-10 hardy souls with OLD clothes and OLD shoes-they will get WET.
  • Time frame: most of the day
  • Cleaning solution, garden sprayers, water hoses, ladders, rags and gloves will be provided-as well as lunch.
CURE Service Project, 8 a.m. to 12 noon
CURE Warehouse, 2400 Vicksburg, Fort Smith
  • Cutting, folding and palletizing plastic sheeting to be used in disaster relief outreaches.
  • 6-8 workers needed (the project will require some lifting and pulling)

Crisis Intervention Center
Outside Project Coordinator: Travis McDonald & Harold Davis
  • Mow and weed-eat yard
  • Clean out and replant flower beds.  Will be using riding and push mowers, weed-eaters, rakes, shovels, and gardening tools.
INSIDE Project Coordinator: Glenda Lewis & Linda Davis
  • Clean, dust and sweep -- "spring cleaning"
  • Will need 12-15 workers with tools and a green thumb.
Sebastian County Humane Society
Project Coordinators: Josh & Kim Bice
  • OUTSIDE: Clean and replant flower bed
  • INSIDE: Clean out skylights and change light bulbs
  • OTHER:  Food and supply drive.  Need dry cat and dog food, clay kitty litter, old towels and blankets, dog & cat toys.
  • Will need 6-8 workers; supplies/equipment provided.
Community Service Clearinghouse
Children's Backpack Program
Project Coordinators: Bridge 56
  • Collect food and snacks for the program
  • NEED 3-4 volunteers to sort and deliver supplies to the Clearinghouse.
John & Hazel Richards' House
Project Coordinator: Jack Lewis
  • Will repair/replace steps  
  • Need 3-4 volunteers with carpentry skills and tools.
Esther Home
Project Coordinator: Meg Canfield
  • To prepare and serve a meal to current residents (currently 6 women and 1 child).
  • Visit and provide devotional; need 2-3 ladies/girls
The Hope Chest
Project Coordinators for Jeans: Rochelle Brown, Jeannie Cole, Carolyn Griffin, Bernice Rogers, and Sheila Vaught
  • Sort, box, and label jeans  
Project Coordinator for Bags: Connye Neal
  • Make up toiletry bags to give away. (This job can be done sitting down and requires minimal effort for those who cannot do a lot of physical activity.)
  • NEED 6-8 volunteers for jeans and 6-8 for bags.
Nursery
Project Coordinator: Nancy James
  • Remove cabinet doors and repaint cabinets
  • Need 2-3 workers. Tools and paint provided.

Home Devo - Sunday, September 25, 2011
Mark your calendar for a great night of fellowship, food, and praise together as a youth group (all 7th-12th graders!).  We'll leave from the building at 6 PM sharp and be back by 9 PM.  We'll be at the Huff's home in Greenwood.  PLEASE bring $3 to help cover food costs, bring your Bible and a friend!  (Host- Jon & Liz Huff, Food- Shannon Horton, TWO MORE FOOD PROVIDERS NEEDED, Driver- Dave Cogswell, TWO MORE DRIVERS NEEDED)

See You At The Pole - Wednesday, September 28, 2011, 7 AM
Join in with a group of dozens, maybe even hundreds, of students at each of your schools to pray together for your school, teachers and other students.  This is a nationwide event ... don't miss out!

We will continue a special series of messages to help kick off your school year the right way!  Bring yourself, a Bible and a friend!

Paintball - Sunday, October 2, 2011, 12:30-3:30 PM
We'll head to All-American Paintball to have a great afternoon of paintball!  Get all your camouflage, padding, and get ready to hunt for the other team's flag! Cost is $25 per person, plus extra for lunch at the fields and for any additional paintballs.  You MUST have all forms and money turned in by September 28, in order to attend. We will be taking vans to this event.

Church Ice Cream Social - Sunday, October 2, 6 PM
Don't miss our annual church ice cream social this evening at the Canfield's!  Bring your Frisbees, footballs, etc. and we'll have some fun ... maybe even a game or two of Link 'em!

Lipscomb University Night - Sunday, October 2, 6:45 PM
Our new Lipscomb University (Allison Todd's college) representative, Dolly Stang, will be stopping by to take out our current Juniors and Seniors out for coffee and talk about college, following the church ice cream social at the Canfield's home.  Parents, this might be a great opportunity for you to begin discussing/investigating the options that your students have for next year.

Honduras (Spring Break Mission Trip) and Bulgaria (Summer Mission Trip)
If you are interested in either or both of these trips, please let Rick or Rachel know immediately.  Applications for both trips are now available in the hanging files.  In order for you to go, you must turn in your application and $50 non-refundable deposit per person by October 9, 2011.  You will NOT be able to go on this trip if you do not turn in these items at that time.
