GUYANA PLANNING

For the past 9 years the West-Ark congregation has been actively involved in medical missions in Guyana, South America, with more than 100 West-Ark members serving as Bible teachers or health care workers. During our clinics we have provided health care for 15,813 patients. We also minister to their spiritual health and have had literally thousands of Bible studies in Guyana that have resulted in 513 baptisms.

We are looking forward to our next trip that is planned for June, 2000. An informational meeting is scheduled for this Sunday night, Jan. 9th, after evening services in Room 100 and you're invited. Whether you've ever been part of this mission effort or not, I can guarantee that there is a place for you to use your God-given talents and abilities. We'll provide you with opportunities to be trained before the trip so that when you arrive in June, you'll know exactly what your role on the team will be.

Perhaps you've heard about how the people in Guyana would get up before the sun rises so they could walk several miles to our Clinic site and then stand in line for hours to have the privilege of participating in a Bible Study and also receive medical attention. Have you ever wondered -- "What would it be like to meet these Guyanese people, share the Good News of Jesus with them, and then see them obey the Gospel and become a part of the Family of God?" or - "What would it be like to walk into a Guyanese school with others from our group and openly teach Bible stories to the children and sing songs with them about Jesus?"

It is a wonderful privilege to spend all day teaching the Gospel to men and women from many different religious backgrounds: from Hindu to Muslim to Pentecostal and everywhere in-between; and then witness their New Birth as they are baptized into Christ. I can tell you that it is exhilarating to look into the eyes of a child and watch their smiles as we do a VBS style program with them -- including songs, a lesson and craft activity. The fact is, if you spend a week in Guyana, many lives will be eternally changed and you will be blessed beyond comprehension.

If you are even remotely interested in how you can be part of the excitement as we prepare for our 10th year of involvement in Guyana, please make plans now to attend the informational meeting in Room 100 this Sunday evening after the worship service.
