For quite some time, we've known that every generation is a new challenge to
the Church and its teaching methods. Currently we're in the process of
updating our learning center that our 2nd-6th graders use. The plan is to
incorporate teaching with computers as we set up a Bible Computer Lab. The
objective is to improve Bible literacy.
We've already purchased and are reviewing some of the new interactive
Christian CD-ROMs. Programs like "Pathways Through Jerusalem" are packed
full of historical, scriptural and archaeological information very
creatively presented. There are also interactive, kid-friendly CDs about the
Life of Moses, David, Jesus, and Paul that are full of Biblical content and
excitement.
Thank-you to all who have donated their old computers to be used for our
children. There will always be an ongoing need for more PC's in the learning
Center - especially Pentiums because they will be able to run the software
better.
Right now, we are looking for someone with the technical knowledge and
willingness to help us sort through the computers and set them up in the
Learning Center for our children. If you can help us out, please see Ted
Edwards or Carolyn Harrell.
It is so nice to finally have our Family Life Center completed. Lots of activities
are already taking place from week-to-week in the FLC and the calendar year
is filling up fast with FLC reservations. Our prayer is (and always has
been) that if God would bless us with such a facility that we would use it
for His glory to bring people closer to Him
and that is exactly what we're
doing!
From an educational perspective there are many activities coming up
in the near future. Please mark these dates on your calendar and plan now to
take part in them. I'm sure you'll be encouraged.
See you in Bible Class this week!
