THE GREATEST WEEK

Even though Vacation Bible School 2000 for the West-Ark congregation is now history, it lives on in the hearts and minds of the children and adults that participated. Almost two hundred children attended the Bible classes, made crafts and enjoyed refreshments every day during our VBS.

Our theme for the week was "The Greatest Week in History." Consider for a moment the hopelessness of life without a crucified and risen Savior -- and then thank the Lord that He was willing to pay the ultimate price of His life so that you and I could live with Him throughout this lifetime and into eternity. Without a doubt, the events of this week changed the eternal course of all mankind.

"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:6-8).

In the Bible classes, we covered events that happened during the week that led up to the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. The students were taught about Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the places that Jesus visited during the week, the Last Supper, and His experiences during the trials, crucifixion, burial and resurrection. The teachers continually emphasized the significance and importance these events have on our daily life today. Our computer center was up and running and this helped to reinforce the Scriptures and Biblical stories that the kids were learning throughout the week.

Even though space does not permit me to individually thank each person who contributed to the success of VBS 2000, I do want to say, "Thank you" to everyone who helped! Thank you to the dozens of teachers and assistants who taught in Bible classes and craft rooms, the nursery attendants, guides, costume and backdrop makers, hospitality helpers, refreshment providers and servers, van drivers and everyone else who helped out in any way.

The success of VBS 2000 can be largely attributed to the leadership and direction of Dena Jenkins, Carolyn Harrell, and Brad Pistole! You have made a positive eternal impact on hundreds of children. Way to Go! A job well done!!!

See you in Bible Class soon!
