PLANTING SEED IN CHILDREN'S HEARTS

I believe training children should be one of the primary tasks of the church. Jesus commanded that we make ourselves servants to children. Mark 9:35-37, Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all." He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me."

Children are among the most eager, teachable segment of the population. In Matthew 18:3, Jesus talked about the fact that the heart of a child is most receptive to the gospel. And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

Even though the results are not immediately seen, the seeds of God's Word that are planted in the hearts of children are always guaranteed to produce a bountiful spiritual harvest because His Word will not come back void.

As a church, the most important thing we can do for children is plant God's Word -- a huge crop of it -- in their hearts. Children's education requires a special heart and gift that God has given to many of our Bible Class teachers, and for that I am thankful. Perhaps there are others who have been given talents to serve our children that you're not yet using. There is always a need for more to become involved in our Education Ministry. If you'd like to know how you could best utilize your talents and gifts, please talk with me soon for more information.
