"COME HOME TO MOMMY"

A few months ago Garth Brooks announced that he will cut back on performing after this year so he can spend more time with his wife and kids. Can you imagine someone in the entertainment business, at the top of his profession like Garth making such a decision while things seem to be going well for him? Then I read about a report that Brooks' decision was prompted by a note from his three daughters, written in crayon on a piece of white paper. World Entertainment News Network says the girls -- Taylor, 7, August, 5, and Allie, 3 -- wrote to their dad last summer that "Mommy's sad ... we all want to be together ... we love you and we love Mommy ... let's all be together ... come home to Mommy."

The report quotes Brooks as saying, "It's time to take the responsibility that I took on seven years ago when we had our baby, Taylor." Brooks says he's always justified the heavy performing schedule by saying, "I was making a living for my family." Now he says it's time to "sit and focus" on his family.

So here's what I've been thinking … Dads and Moms, how about you? Have you put your family on the back burner while attending to other priorities? Are there other things that you have deemed more important than spending time with your children and spouse? Maybe it's time for you to "sit and focus" on your family.

Recently, I was given a wake-up call in my family that caused me to think about all of these things as I considered my priorities. And then these verses came to my mind from Romans 13:11-12, "And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light."

Are you taking advantage of all God has provided for you so that you may be able to grow and mature into the person He wants you to be? We have Bible classes every Sunday and Wednesday for all ages -- nursery through adult.

But even beyond that … does your family see you putting your faith into action as you live for Him every day?

See you in Bible Class!
