CHRISTIAN MINISTRY

The apostle Peter penned these words in 1 Peter 4:10-11, Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

I believe that God has equipped each one of His children with certain skills that are to be used in Christian Ministry. To know that we are to function as a member of the Body of Christ brings us a good feeling of belonging, but also a responsibility. The sense of belonging comes to us as we realize we don't have to feel guilty that we are not participating in all available opportunities for ministry at West-Ark. God has gifted each one of us with some spiritual gifts, but no one person has all the spiritual gifts. The sense of responsibility comes when we understand that God-given abilities point to our responsibilities.

Sunday, June 3, we are having a Ministry Fair at West-Ark. The objective is for all the ministries of West-Ark to set up a display of their particular area of ministry. Then the whole church will have an opportunity to view the different displays and be aware of aspects of service and ministry within the West-Ark congregation.

This should be a wonderful opportunity for us all to come together and be energized for the works of service that God has equipped us for.

See you in Bible Class this week!

Opportunity and Crisis
by David Chadwell
Which is greater? Our opportunity or our crisis? When we examine needs honestly, both opportunity and crisis stare back. Why have a ministry fair? Opportunity and crisis are staring at us. Our concepts suffer major distortions. The church has lost a sense of community and family. Those concepts suffer major distortions in a society that glorifies the individual. When we think of "the church" we think of memberships, not service. We think of attendance, not life's purpose. If we learn to be community and family, what opportunity! If we do not, what crisis! Ministry fairs challenge us to be an involved community, not merely attending members.
