When you and I became a Christian, we were not baptized into a club or
fraternity. We were baptized into the one Body. The implication is that each
member of the Body belongs to all the others. Because this is true, the
Christian life is not a life of isolation but rather it is a life of
participation.
The Body that we are a member of is a living organism and every part of the
Body is needed. This is the very nature of the Church according to 1 Corinthians
12:12-27. We are the Body of Christ every day, 24/7 -- not simply on Sunday
for a few hours. Since everything we have and everything we are belongs to
God, it also belongs to His Body (each other).
Each member of the Body has been given various gifts from God. His desire is
that we use our gifts and talents to serve Him and build up the Body. If
you're unclear what gifts you've been given by God, you may ask, "How do I
find out what my gifts are?"
I would simply answer, "Start serving and using your talents for Him. You'll
soon discover where God has gifted you as you begin to meet the needs of
people."
Don't forget He taught us that if we use our gifts and talents for Him, we'll
be given even more opportunities to serve. But if we don't use it, we'll
lose it!
This Sunday is Ministry Fair Sunday at West-Ark. My prayer is that you will
be blessed as you consider where He would like you to serve in the Body at
West-Ark.
See you in Bible Class!
