LEADERSHIP TRAINING

I do not believe that great leaders are born … they are made. There is no instant recipe to be one of God's leaders because they are not grown overnight … it takes time as they grow in the soil of opportunity, and they're nurtured by His loving, patient hands. Christ-like leaders learn by doing and participating in ministry activities. They become strong in the struggle with adversity as they deal with their own mistakes. Servant leaders for Jesus are not focused on self because they lose themselves in service to others.

Leadership is a lifestyle and teaching that lifestyle is what "Leadership Training for Christ" (LTC) is all about. Last weekend (April 2 & 3) eight 3rd-6th graders and their parents traveled from West-Ark to Tulsa for the 1999 LTC Conference. The theme this year was Luke 2:52, "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."

The eight participants each received a plaque for participating and earned gold medals in Christian Chorus, Live Christian Drama, and Puppetry. They also earned a silver medal on their Bulletin Board. Two students earned gold medals in Extemporaneous Bible Reading. I am so proud of these young people for the work and diligent effort they put forth to prepare and participate in LTC. Would you take the opportunity to encourage and congratulate these children for their service in LTC?

If you'd like to know more about LTC and how it can benefit your children and also strengthen our congregation, plan on attending the evening assembly this Sunday.

And as always, I hope to see you in Bible Class this week.
