IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS

The Apostle Paul wrote a bold statement in 1 Corinthians 11:1 when he said, "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ." Would you feel comfortable inviting people to walk next to you and follow your example and in your footsteps 24/7? Are there things that you do, places that you visit, or people that you’re involved with that you wouldn’t want others to hear, see or to follow in your example?

Did you know that every great event that has ever been accomplished by mankind has been influenced by leaders? And likewise, every atrocity that mankind has ever created happened as a result of leadership as well. Whether you realize it or not, there are people following in your footsteps because you’re a leader and leadership is an awesome responsibility!!! We’re involved in leadership roles within our families, within the Church, in the workplace, the community and also with our circle of friends.

The truth is --- people are looking to you for reassurances, for direction and for an example to follow. Because we affect so many lives of people around us, we must take our responsibility seriously. The words that we speak, along with our attitudes and actions affect those who choose to follow us. When you become aware of the impact that you’re having on others around you, it causes you to think before you act or speak out on a particular subject. Remember… People will most often act based on what they see their leaders doing.

No one can escape the role of leadership and the responsibility it places on us because there is always someone who is listening and watching what you’ll do -- and they will make their decisions based on your example. In fact, many of the decisions that you made recently were influenced by those around you since we’re all influenced by each other. For these reasons, it is important to choose carefully whom to follow and whom to allow to influence our attitudes and decisions.

Leadership is an awesome responsibility that can have eternal consequences. Let’s take seriously the impact that our words, our attitudes, our actions, and our examples have on others.

Someone once said, "Our talk talks and our walk talks and our walks talk louder than our talks talk."

By the way, will someone follow your lead to Bible Class this week? ... Think about it…
