Lesson Thirteen

A Review of the Quarter

Teachers: This session has the potential of being one of the quarter's most encouraging classes. Hopefully, your class will share with you the things they learned and the understandings they gained. As much as possible, you want to listen today. If at all possible, let your class talk to you. Do not permit one person to monopolize the time. Do not be rude to someone who attempts to "take over" the class. Instead, ask questions such as, "What do the rest of you think about that lesson?" or "What understandings did that lesson bring the rest of you?" Such questions invite others to share while kindly saying to the class member, "Let others share their thoughts."

For your personal preparation, review the twelve lessons. Be prepared to share your advanced realizations and understandings if necessary. However, share only to begin a discussion. Plan brief remarks. Remember, if at all possible, you want your class to do most of the talking.

If you have a talkative class that shares easily, you may not have time to systematically consider a review of each lesson. If that is your situation, you may simply ask, "Which lesson benefited you the most this quarter? Why?" Such classes share the things that touched or helped them the most. That should be the objective. Their sharing insights that spiritually benefited them is much more important than systematically reviewing all twelve lessons.

In preparation for class, use this twelve lesson study guide to review quickly each lesson studied this quarter. As you reexamine each lesson, ask yourself two questions. (1) What did I realize that I had not previously considered? (2) What new understanding did I gain? Following are places to record your advanced realization and your advanced understanding. As you reexamine each lesson, write down your advanced realization and understanding.
