Study Guide

Part Seven
The Parable of the Valuable Pearl
Matthew 13:45,46
- What is the kingdom like?
- What did the pearl merchant find?
- What did he do?
Things to note in regard to the Parable of the Hidden Treasure and the Parable of the
Valuable Pearl:
- The man who discovered the hidden treasure recognized the treasure and its value when he saw it.
- The merchant who found the pearl recognized its value when he saw it.
- The man who found the treasure did so by accident. It was an unexpected discovery.
- The merchant who found the pearl was searching for it. It was an intentional discovery.
- Both men reacted in the same way. Each sacrificed everything they had to possess their valuable find.
- Some will accidentally discover the kingdom, and some will search for the kingdom. However, all who find the kingdom and recognize its true value will, by choice, make every necessary sacrifice to be a part of it.
