BUILDING A
HEALTHY FAITH
Study Guide
by David Chadwell
Lesson Thirteen
Following are the lessons we studied this quarter in Matthew 6 and 7:
- Do not practice acts of righteousness for the purpose of gaining the attention of others.
- The reason you do acts of kindness/benevolence is all important to God.
- Private prayers must have the proper purpose and focus.
- Fasting is a private expression of humility that should involve only the person and God.
- Ideal security is formed through faith in God, not by blending faith and material prosperity.
- Trusting God destroys anxieties about material existence.
- Remember the impossible times when God cared for you, and trust Him more.
- If you judge others, God will condemn you in the same manner you condemn them.
- God knows how to do good things for His children.
- You must look for the way to live life for the eternal; you can "go with the flow" with your eyes shut.
- We must not be deceived by false prophets, bad fruit trees, and those who say, "Lord, Lord;" and we must not become such a person.
- The wise person builds life by listening to Jesus and acting on what Jesus teaches. Only this person will survive life's storms.
Questions:
- Which lesson (lessons) were of the greatest personal help to you?
- Why was this lesson (lessons) helpful?
