BUILDING A
HEALTHY FAITH
Study Guide

Lesson Six
To place this class in my personal focus this week:
- Read Matthew 6:25-34 at least once a day.
- Find moments in the day when you can think about these verses.
- Think of specific, common reasons for people to be in anxiety over "the necessities of life."
- Think of specific instances when God obviously, undeniably took care of you.
Questions:
- State the ways that Jesus said that we should not be anxious for our lives.
- What truth about "life" should make it obvious that such anxiety misses the true point of existence?
- In verses 26 through 29 Jesus stated three things that can attack human anxiety created by concern for physical necessities. With each explain Jesus' point.
- The birds.
- The length of our lives.
- Clothing.
- What is the relationship between the grass and the furnace (or baking oven)?
- Specifically, why did Jesus refer to his audience as people "of little faith?"
- In this context, the "Gentiles" refer to people who do not believe in God.
- About what things are people who do not believe in God anxious?
- How are Jesus' disciples obviously different from such people?
- People who do not believe in God focus existence on caring for the physical.
- What do Jesus' disciples focus existence on?
- They live with this focus knowing what?
- Jesus' disciples do not live in anxiety about tomorrow. Why? Explain those two reasons.
